Periodontics
With the right care and treatment, many people can now maintain their natural teeth throughout their lifetime.
Maintaining healthy gums is crucial for protecting your teeth over the long term. Ignoring gum care can result in loose teeth, bleeding, unpleasant breath, and may even impact overall health, contributing to conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
Making oral health a vital part of overall well-being.
When an oral infection occurs, harmful bacteria can enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body. Studies have increasingly connected gum disease to complications in conditions like diabetes, as bacteria can worsen already vulnerable blood vessels. Cardiologists are also paying closer attention to patients’ oral health, since these bacteria may play a role in serious heart-related issues.
Toothbrushes and floss effectively remove plaque above the gumline, but they only reach about 1–3 mm below the gums. Within a day, any leftover plaque hardens into tartar, which can only be removed by a dental professional. Bacteria latch onto this tartar—similar to barnacles on a boat—creating a rough, irritating surface. This irritation causes the gums to become inflamed and gradually pull away from the tooth, starting the process of gum recession along the root.
This is a significant issue because exposed tooth roots are extremely sensitive to heat, cold, and pressure, often causing pain when eating or drinking. Unlike the crown of the tooth, roots do not have enamel, making them softer and more prone to decay and injury from brushing. Typically, it takes around three months for bacteria to produce enough toxins to start damaging the surrounding bone.
That’s why, if you are diagnosed with periodontal disease, your hygienist may recommend a three-month maintenance schedule for periodontal therapy. Gum recession can result from aggressive brushing, active or past gum disease, or misaligned teeth. Our role is to determine the underlying cause. If brushing habits are the culprit, we can guide you in using gentler, more effective techniques.
Came in for a cleaning, office was very welcoming. Dr. Judy was very professional, listened to my concerns, and was able to have a good laugh with him. Teeth are pretty clean too!

They have a true passion for their profession
“There are very few dentists that I feel have a true passion for their profession, but it was immediately obvious to me that Dr. Judy is one! I have seen dentists that rush through their work to see as many patients as possible, or present treatment plans that seem unrealistic and possibly not necessary. At Dr.Judy's, I have never felt rushed through my appointments Dr.Judy and his staff always take time to check every aspect of my dental needs, answer my questions and are very thorough with explaining any concerns I have and options of treatment. He has provided me with some long needed cosmetic work that far exceeded my expectations! It was immediately obvious during my appointments how meticulous and knowledgeable he is, giving particular attention to detail and with such a gentle touch! I feel very blessed to have found this office and strongly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dentist to call and make an appointment to meet him and his staff!
Patient since Sept. 2020”
